in druidawn every characture has a race which most of their abilities come from. This, in my oppinion, is slightly too simple. It would be better if you could have a race, class and base.... Class example: Rogue, Wizard, Ranger, Druid, Warlord etc. These would be how they have been trained and they would have a larger array of abilities. Example: every three to five levels you gain a choice of 3 abilities, you can use these in every day in the game or 2-3-4-5 depending on the power of the ability. (level 77 Wizard Spell-- greater meteor swarm) This would be an example spell that you could get at level 77, but there would probably by 2 or 3 spells you could choose from.
Base: This is what type of "thing" you get your power from. Arcane: power from the universe. Devine: power from higher beings. Psion: power of the mind-- using the mind to control things. Material: pure force of will (A Rogue would be Material sneeking up on an opponent and stabing them thru the heart.) Your base would give you a resource for your power. You could exurt you own life force to land a stronger blow - material- or draw energy from another being to light a fire - arcane.
What do you think? |

That was actually for one of the reasons it is too simple. One of the main ideas behind it was ease of getting to play. But your idea is duly noted and submitted on your behalf

Well yes this is genearly a good idead except this is a D&D idea and i have one fo the player handbooks because my frinds and frocing me bound and gagged into playing with them. But they do buy me breakfast and play other bgames with me so i can't complaing hence GAGGED. But if you have ever seen teh players handbook it has this basic idead and teh clases and get other abilities through thier class. Like how my ranger can inherit Druid abilities through divine presedence by staying in the forest for so long, so i go look at the spells, Its over 100 pages of spells and it has them all attached to a class, this was naturaly mind boggeling for me and i'm 16, regualrly we have 5 and 6 year olds playing this and it would totaly confuse them to make it this complicated. We could do this for the tenn and adults but not for the kids its to confusing.

The problem being that the player and other handbooks are about the size of one of the druidawn volumes

Actually a druid awn volume might hold 2/3 of the spells; the player hand book for the game of D&D merely scratches the surface for levels 1 to 13 out of 40 levels there are like 2000 spells. My friend has spent like $3000 on a D&D book collection for just series 3.5 plus its like 78 books of spells, races, flora fauna, minerals, they practically cover every aspect, but 12 cover character creation with spells and such like types of spells races that can use such spells necessary base for spells. What you are trying to do is a good idea but I think that Einstein would cringe at how much my friend has read about theses and for that there are lie15 categories for spells. Like Life, death/Necromancy, Divine, Nature, ECT. There is no we could so this man. Its good for now but we need o develop it as a slower pace, that the little ones could understand

*Moderator*exactly half the point of the low grade of the game setup was miriam wanted CHILDREN to play. If you read legends of druidawn her idea is just a transition from the young playground MYSTIC SHEILD style of imaginary tag to a rule based logical game. The ease of play from sheet to play allows anyone with an imagination to immediately transfer *OOC* My first game involved myself as a level 1 wizard with 1 spell (familiar friend) and my ally was spiderman. You see I knew nothing of druidawn at the time and yet was able to play complete the quest and eventually become kulaan the greatest overlord of all time (dont say a word) Considering the basics of DnD require 10-20 dice just to randomize a character sheet and a solo quest that does not lend itself to a young 1st grader suddenly deciding to write. I myself have gotten people who would never touch writing with a ten foot pole to write with this game. It all comes out of the LG's head. Then automatically it shifts to ease. You can be and play anything from an ant in the forest. To a mad scientist in a labratory with a vampire "vwanting to drink your blood." that is part of the reason for the lack of complicaty. I know none of you have actually survived to read this far, but druidawn helps a lot of people. I myself included. Now anyone who has ever met me knows that kulaan is more than a name when it comes to me. However, at any given time if you could read my mind 9/10 flashes would be druidawn in someway shape or form. I have even just been told I finally have succeeded in my writing. After all I am a person who has physical difficulty in the latter activity. The imagination that druidawn allows for can have anyone writing on this website. (in fact one of you reading this whether it be today, or 13 years from now, could be among my ranks in the future. Now of course you will take my book, dice, and position away from my cold, dead, lifeless, undead, burning, rotting hands when you are bruised by the traps. But still among my ranks remains a possibility. Even someone who just joined. Whether it be Yoda, larani, or even danmay. After all everyone myself included started in your position)

I am intrigued by this idea of having a beginners, intermediate, and advanced version of the characters role-playing. I think with some more work this idea could be developed quite nicely.

Supposedly my friends who have the entire 3.0 series of the D&D series tell me that 3.5 RUINED IT! But thats just them, i personally don't like to touch it because it fells like im in a level cage where they taunt me with eh powers that i wanted to start off with like Soul forgers powers (don't question me i love organic things so shaping life would be my entertainment like turning a rat slowly into a plant). But the powers i wanted werer so far away that i just loathe it. IT PISSES ME OFF THAT YOU ARE SO LIMITED AT START! THE ENTIRE POINT OF A FANTASY WORLD IS TO BE INHUMAN AND D&D TRIES VERY HARD TO MAKE YOUR CHARACTER HUMAN! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR@

lol....... if you want that spell or something then you level adjust it.....or start at lv 10!!!!!!!!!! you dont have to start at lv1..... but make sure all the characters start out at the same level or it would be pointless. If you want a power that D&D doesn't have, you could make it up as long as the DM is okay with it.
